117: Money Empowers Women

I’m so proud of us, Soul Rich Woman.
We literally are changing the world. We’re playing a part in a huge revolution. Money empowers women.
In the world at the moment, there are many revolutions going on about race, marriage equality, and anything. This one is around female empowerment.
In this episode, let’s talk about how Money Empowers Women.
Female empowerment

02:49- 02:55  There are many revolutions going on in the world at the moment, around race, marriage equality, etc. All extremely important.
03:04- 3:06  This one is around female empowerment.
03:07- 03:14  By creating products and services that wouldn’t exist otherwise. By hiring other women to support us in our businesses.

Money equals choices

03:33- 03:34 What does that mean?
03:34- 04:38 Money equals choices. And that is I love Soul Rich Woman so much. It's my legacy business. I have had two conversations lately also made me think. First, someone asked me to speak to a women’s shelter about the money. I felt like I really should do it. But I felt really guilty saying no. Now, I think this is a just really worthy cause. Hugely important work. But I’m not the person to do it because even though I speak about money, I talk about owning your F-word, it does not mean that I’m the right person to speak at a women’s shelter or in the prison ministry. Not good for me because I would feel helpless that I couldn’t create real change in an hour, and definitely not good for them.
04:41- 04:48 Never forget – it’s okay to change the world your way. We women don’t have to be everything to everyone.
04:49- 05:19 The second conversation happened a while back. I donated some of the money to someone who does amazing work in her community, and she said to me “I wish I could donate money like you, but all I have to give is my time.” This really breaks my heart. I was just thinking the opposite, “I wish I could have such a big heart like you to help out directly, but all I have to give is my money.”

05:20- 05:34 Both of us had this guilty feeling like it wasn’t really enough. But it was perfect. Every cause needs both time and money. Some people have both to give. Sometimes you have more of one than the other.
05:35- 05:49 It’s okay to serve in the only way you can or want to. It’s okay to serve in a way that’s easy and enjoyable for you. It’s okay to charge well for a very specific thing you do.

You are enough

05:50- 05:55 You are enough. You don’t have to be everything to everyone.

06:00- 06:06 Either way, it doesn’t say anything about you as a person. And that is key.

Key Takeaways:

  1. You are enough.

  2. Money equals choices.

  3. Change the world your way.

  4. Every cause needs money and time.

  5.  You don’t have to be everything to everyone.
