Episode 27: Entrepreneurship Depression and Suicide is REAL. I get you.
Hello and welcome to today’s episode. My name is Genecia Alluora, how are you today? I hope it’s beautiful and gorgeous for you today. So today I want to talk about entrepreneurship depression and suicide is real, and I totally get you. How did I overcome mine? Tune in to this episode to learn more.

I suffered depression when I went through my 6-figured debt(01:56 - 02:08) This is a very, very important topic that is very close to my heart because I suffered depression when I went through my 6-figured debt and I almost committed suicide.

(02:29 - 02:52) When I was going through this dark times I thought I had nobody to turn to, I just felt that I was useless, dirty, ugly, stupid, fucked up, everything possible about me and, you know, being a beauty queen as well, has its own repercussions.

(03:06 - 03:12) These are just some of the many negative thoughts that went through my mind and shattered my soul.

(03:13 - 03:20) I saw dark images every single night and I suffered from insomnia.

(03:53 - 04:04) Literally going through emotional turmoils, knowing that whether the business is going to go forward or the business is going to die.

(04:08 - 04:24) So it sounds like a pretty dark episode isn’t it? At this point, my heart still pains even up to today thinking about if I had not done this thing I literally would have jumped off the building.

Mustering my courage and asked for help(04:48 - 04:54) I mustered up my courage and picked up the phone and texted my Pastor.

(04:57 - 05:04) And I said ‘Pastor, I really need your help, I really need you to pray for me.’

(05:19 - 05:25) In fifteen minutes he called me and he asked me ‘What’s wrong, Genecia?

(05:40 - 05:47) don’t worry. Let me pray for you, tell me what’s going on in your mind right now, share with me.’ And so I shared with him.

(06:04 - 06:23) And by the time he finished praying for me I opened up my eyes I saw in front of me this black cloud with my windows opened just floated in front of me and floated out of the room. And I just felt really light.

(06:26 - 06:31) Darkest moments in your life like this, do you actually ask for help?

(06:34 - 06:40) I’m a business owner, Ms. Singapore, the least when I ask for help people mocked at me.

(06:42 - 06:48) Because people like ‘Oh, you’re successful, you know, you should be doing what you can do.’

It’s difficult to ask for help when you are seen as a leader(06:51 - 07:02) In this society, people look at us as leaders, as role models, as difficult to ask for help.

(07:03 - 07:27) But when we mustered up our courage, to open up our mouth, and speak the magical words ‘Please help me’. It seems like it’s so frightful, it seems like we are useless, it seems like we can’t do it anymore and that’s why we’re asking for help, no it’s not.

(07:28 - 07:37) Let me tell you, if I hadn’t asked for help that night, I would not be here today, sitting here and sharing with you this moment of depression and suicide.

(07:41 - 07:44) It took me months and months before eventually, I got out.
I get you and this is my words of encouragement for you(08:19 - 08:32) And because eventually I did ask for help and I have really good mentors who really opened up their arms and guided me through, leading me out of the darkness.

(09:15 - 09:36) Looking back, I’m glad I did ask for help, and today, you’re listening to this episode is not by chance. I wanna encourage you that even in your darkest moments you have me, you have someone out there waiting for you to let you ask for help.

(09:40 - 09:52) Waiting for you to hear your cries and to hear you speak. Lending you a hand to walk you out of the darkness and into the light.

(09:54 - 10:21) Now, if I had not asked for help I would have been buried in the ashes today. And because I did ask for help I now build the largest female entrepreneur network in Southeast Asia connecting more than 200,000 women across the region and even going on working with success resources, the largest seminar organizer in the world.

We all have a purpose(10:41 - 10:49) We are called on this planet earth for a reason, a purpose. Don’t let that go to waste.

(10:50 - 11:04) The power is within you. You are possible. When you change your heart and change your mind, ask for help, your life will be transformed today.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

  2. Don’t waste your life without finding your true purpose

  4. The power is within you.
